Wikipedia:Requests for page protection

Page semi-protected
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Current requests for increase in protection level

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Place requests for new or upgrading pending changes, semi-protection, full protection, move protection, create protection, template editor protection, or upload protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Reason: 92.233.82.113 is the forth troll account that has griefed his talk page / article this month. tommy has now been called, without proof, 'an international terrorist', 'self-proclaimed nazi', and more. someone even demanded publishing videos of child porn in order to confirm he combatted grooming gangs, which is obviously absurd and bad faith trolling. this repeated defamation in such a short notice mandates a raise in protection for his page.. NotQualified (talk) 18:42, 31 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – already semi-protected. We do not usually protect talk pages unless there are major issues. Black Kite (talk) 18:58, 31 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    The Smurfs Movie (2nd attempt)

Reason: Several anonymous users added unsourced content such as cast members that have not been confirmed for the film yet. The Media Expert (talk) 23:48, 31 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Persistent unreferenced edits from IP users. Hotwiki (talk) 00:44, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary full protection : Persistent edit warring between two users. Administrators please also help to solve that content dispute. Pachu Kannan (talk) 01:11, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent addition of unsourced or poorly sourced content – Continuous addition of unsourced films by IPs and SPAs. Back and forth has been going on for over a month as seen in the edit history. CNMall41 (talk) 01:30, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Persistent IP vandalism. PadFoot (talk) 02:01, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent addition of unsourced or poorly sourced content – IP users are back again, adding unsourced content, refusing to take a hint from reverts and informative warnings. Stefen Towers among the rest! GabGruntwerk 02:56, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – Sockpuppets of Jaislejorge64 have been vandalizing the article for three months. Heartfox (talk) 02:57, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    User(s) blocked. Daniel Quinlan (talk) 06:49, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Semi-protected for a period of 2 months, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Daniel Quinlan (talk) 06:49, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Vandalism by IPs. Aydoh8 (talk | contribs) 03:09, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing by IP. No sooner does the protection expire than he is at it again. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 04:03, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 1 month, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Daniel Quinlan (talk) 06:33, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent Vandalism. EndzoneEnthusiast 04:16, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Persistent disruptive editing on a trans BLP. Funcrunch (talk) 04:26, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Indefinite extended confirmed protection: Arbitration enforcement – WP:A/I/PIA. nableezy - 04:51, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Edits by an unconfirmed user changing information that disagrees with WP:FOOTBALL, adding representations from Denmark in 1896 (demonstration) and 1904 (interspersed games) as Olympic champions. Svartner (talk) 05:27, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Slow persistent edit warring between multiple users over the capitalisation of bell hooks' name (stylized in lowercase) when it begins a sentence. Wikipedia policy (MOS:PERSONAL) and strong consensus of editors of other pages of persons with names stylized in all lowercase (e.g. k.d. lang, maia arson crimew, etc) are in agreement: when such names begin a sentence, they should be capitalized.

However, I have edited this particular page accordingly twice now; the first time it was changed back by an IP user, and the second time it was reverted by User:Rasnaboy with the claim that "person's personal preference overrides WP:MOS" (which may be a decent rule of thumb, but is quite specifically incorrect in this instance).

There were additional intervening edits flipflopping that capitalization from other users.

As I have no desire to dip my toes into even the shallow end of the edit-warring pool, I would request that

    1. the page be edited by someone previously uninvolved to correct the incorrect lack of capitalisation at sentence start (and only there), and
    2. the page be protected to prevent well-meaning idiots from continuing to "fix" the uppercase "B".

    Thepsyborg (talk) 06:07, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Please use the article's talk page or other forms of dispute resolution. Daniel Quinlan (talk) 06:18, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 07:11, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Reason: I am requesting the unprotection of the Wikipedia article on Candida hypersensitivity to allow for necessary updates and improvements. User @ScienceFlyer has restricted contributions from knowledgeable editors who can provide the latest scientific information on the topic. The article currently contains outdated information, and removing the protection will enable contributors to include accurate, peer-reviewed sources from reputable scientific journals and websites. This is essential for aligning the article with current scientific understanding.

Furthermore, the current version may infringe upon the Digital Services Act (DSA), which emphasizes transparency and accountability in digital content. The DSA requires that platforms actively combat misinformation, especially in areas like health and science, to ensure users receive accurate and reliable information.

Unprotection will also foster collaborative editing, allowing the community to address misinformation effectively and ensure compliance with the DSA’s requirements. This change will significantly enhance the article's credibility and usefulness. Thank you for considering this request to unprotect the page. 178.51.222.215 (talk) 06:51, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This page was protected under the auspices of the pseudo- and fringe sciences contentious topic and cannot be unprotected at this venue; someone other than you would need to appeal at WP:Arbitration/Requests/Enforcement. —Jéské Couriano v^_^v threads critiques 07:05, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

In "Early life and education", the article says "In 2003 she enrolled at the University of Mississippi". The source for that paragraph as archived (https://archive.ph/ek0sE) states that she "dropped out for good in 2001".

I suggest changing "In 2003 she enrolled..." to something like "She enrolled at the University of Mississippi, studying journalism and political science and writing for The Daily Mississippian, but left the school in 2001." Or of course, add a source for her enrolling in 2003. Elizabeth Internet (talk) 06:56, 26 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Add "George and Junior" in the the programming section of Tom and Jerry, where it says, "including other MGM Cartoons such as Droopy, Barney Bear, and Screwball Squirrel". Mgmcartoonguy (talk) 04:34, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
